YWCA provides structured After-school Programs for elementary and middle school students in Guilford County Schools. Our organization also provides Summer Day Camps for students.


YWCA provides structured After-school Programs for elementary and middle school students, including a unique partnership with Phoenix Academy Middle School. Working directly with Guilford County Schools and paying close attention to each student’s educational needs, the programs use the after-school time to provide career exploration activities. Guest speakers and field trips expose the students to different colleges while getting them excited and motivated to pursue higher education.
Special Features include afternoon snack, homework help, low-cost field trips, swimming and sibling discounts.

YWCA High Point serves the following schools:

  • Elementary Schools: Johnson Street, Kirkman Park, Montilieu Elementary, Northwood, Oak Hill, Oakview, Phoenix, Shady Brook, Triangle Lake, Union Hill
  • Middle Schools: Ferndale Middle School*, Penn Griffin Middle School*, Welborn Middle School*
    • *Core City Middle School (Ferndale, Penn Griffin, Welborn) 1st 40 registered participants are free.
    • Allen Jay Preparatory Academy – can request transportation from the school.

After School Care youth will discover and learn to appreciate other cultures through games, stories, and crafts. Youth and Staff will learn from each other. Basic Academics will be reinforced using the everyday world as a classroom. Youth will also engage in structured play and practice problem-solving skills.

YWCA After School Care is conveniently located off Main Street and provides affordable childcare for working parents.

Before & After School Care.

YWCA offers an onsite middle school program at Phoenix Academy Middle School.  This is a partnership between Phoenix Academy and YWCA High Point to provide quality care for the students during the school year.

On the early release days, the students are transported to YWCA High Point facility to participate in activities including swimming.

After School Care offers extended hours of 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM on Teacher Workdays following the Guildford County School Schedule.


All Day Traditional Summer Camp.

Elementary Age : $100/week
Middle School : $80/week

YWCA provides a Summer Day Camp where participants will be exposed to new experiences, activities and skill sets while learning more about the people around them and the person that they want to be. Youth will do this through group activities, field trips, focus groups, bible study, leadership development, cooking, fun educational activities, sports, arts and crafts and much more

Summer Camp offers extended hours of operation from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Participants get: 

  • Lunch following Guilford County Lunch Program Schedule
  • Free & low-cost field trips and sibling discounts

All participants must have a YWCA of High Point membership:

  • $25- Youth membership OR $80- Family membership
  • Register at the front desk for all summer programs

Summer Art Camps
Monday – Friday 9 am to 12:30

July 7th week  Art Camp Up Cycled Art
Don’t throw that away…we can turn it into art!  We are going to have a great time making old things into new art. This week we will build, create, and reconstruct art through use of found, recycled, and used material!

July 13th week  Under the Sea
Students will dive into the amazing world of marine life while creating ocean themed art using an array of art techniques. In this camp students will create mixed media art that will be fun and engaging as they learn about ocean habitats.

July 20th Week Outta of this World
This week campers will use their imaginations to travel to outer space for some fun projects centered around different parts of the amazing universe beyond the skies.

July 27th week Around the World and Back
Campers will journey to various destinations around the world as they create art inspired by different cultures. If you like adventure and travel don’t miss out on the trip of a life time exploring the different continents through the eyes of art.

August 3rd Week  Unicorn and Rainbows
This camp is full of magic!  Students will channel their inner unicorn while painting, constructing, mixing—- and of course sprinkling all with sparkles!



GLE program works to give girls the courage, compassion, and confidence to regain or strengthen their voice and lead in their community.

In collaboration with the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium and the Center for Creative Leadership, YWCA High Point is honored to offer this program on a continuing basis.
