YWCA’s indoor pool hosts a comprehensive Aquatics Program with activities for all ages, abilities, and interests.

YWCA Pool Schedule

Our Arthritis Foundation-accredited heated pool has an average temperature of 86°F. The pool is ADA compliant with a pool lift and extra wide stairs with ergonomic railing, making the pool fully accessible to people of all physical abilities. As a YWCA Aquatics & Wellness Member, you have full access to our pool facility and water exercise classes.

YWCA of High Point is Silver & Fit and SilverSneakers® Fitness Program location.

WATER AEROBICS AND AQUATIC FITNESS

Exercising in water builds cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility,  increases circulation and can help you rehabilitate healing muscles and joints.

YWCA Aquatics offers a variety of instructor-led water aerobics and aquatic fitness classes in our pool all week long with different intensity and skill levels.  Non-swimmers are always welcome in all of our shallow end classes.

With our water temperature at 86°, you can enjoy water exercise at any time of the year!

Aquatics Classes

Typically 45 minutes long, our water aerobics classes consist of a warm-up, cardio routine, strength building exercises (arms, legs, and core), and finish with a cool down and stretching.

The water provides an environment of natural resistance with very low impact to the joints, allowing for greater range of motion and freer movement. Participants will use hand-held water weights with varying levels of resistance. Participants from all levels of fitness are welcomed and encouraged to participate at their own pace.

Arthritis Water Aerobics:

Arthritis Water Aerobics concentrates on improving individuals’ limited range of motion. Each joint in the body is targeted with different exercises that are designed to promote mobility. The temperature of the pool is kept within a range of 84 to 86 degrees, making it a therapeutic, warm water pool through the Arthritis Foundation.

Individuals that have had any kind of replacement surgery, physical limitations from accidents, or have just completed physical therapy are also welcomed!
