YWCA provides structured After-school Programs for elementary and middle school students in Guilford County Schools. Our organization also provides Summer Day Camps for students.
AFTER SCHOOL CARE
YWCA provides structured After-school Programs for elementary and middle school students. Working directly with Guilford County Schools and paying close attention to each student’s educational needs, YWCA program offers thoughtful, fun and engaging activities to augment their educational needs and the school day curriculum to increase achievement. Guest speakers and field trips expose the students to different colleges while getting them excited and motivated to pursue higher education.
Special Features include STEAM activities, afternoon snack, homework help, low-cost field trips, swimming and sibling discounts.
YWCA High Point serves the following schools:
- Elementary Schools: Johnson Street, Kirkman Park, Montilieu Elementary, Northwood, Oak Hill, Oakview, Phoenix, Triangle Lake, Union Hill
- Northwood Elementary – can request transportation from the school.
- Middle Schools: Ferndale Middle School, Penn Griffin Middle School, Welborn Middle School
- Penn Griffin – can request transportation from the school
- Allen Jay Preparatory Academy – can request transportation from the school.
After School Care youth will discover and learn to appreciate other cultures through games, stories, and crafts. Youth and Staff will learn from each other. Basic Academics will be reinforced using the everyday world as a classroom. Youth will also engage in structured play and practice problem-solving skills.
YWCA After School Care is conveniently located off Main Street and provides affordable childcare for working parents.

TEACHER WORKDAYS
After School Care offers extended hours of 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM on Teacher Workdays following the Guildford County School Schedule.
SUMMER CAMPS
All Day Traditional Summer Camp.
YWCA provides a Summer Day Camp where participants will be exposed to new experiences, activities and skill sets while learning more about the people around them and the person that they want to be. Youth will do this through group activities, field trips, focus groups, bible study, leadership development, cooking, fun educational activities, sports, arts and crafts and much more
Summer Camp offers extended hours of operation from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Participants get:
- Lunch following Guilford County Lunch Program Schedule
- Free & low-cost field trips and sibling discounts
All participants must have a YWCA of High Point membership:
- $25- Youth membership OR $80- Family membership
- Register at the front desk for all summer programs
Summer Camp Enrichment Program Support
YWCA will provide a program for youth who need to attend Guilford County Schools Summer Enrichment Programs. This would be from the time that school dismisses to 6 pm. This program is currently being developed in partnership with the school system.
GIRLS LEADERSHIP EDGE
GLE program works to give girls the courage, compassion, and confidence to regain or strengthen their voice and lead in their community.
In collaboration with the Guilford Nonprofit Consortium and the Center for Creative Leadership, YWCA High Point is honored to offer this program on a continuing basis.
