Established in 2008, YWCA offers an art program open to the public and providing pottery, painting and jewelry making classes and workshops for children and adults.

YWCA Studio Art provides summer art camp opportunities for the community as well. Youth participating in our programs get the rare opportunity to create projects in an art studio environment.

STUDIO ART WORKSHOPS

Single Pottery Workshop

Students will construct and underglaze one project using various textures and techniques.  Pieces will be under glazed as greenware during the session.

Minimum of 3 Students/Maximum of 8 Students

Members: $35
Non-Members: $45

WHEEL THROWING CLASS

Working with clay is one of the best ways to recharge you mentally while making all sorts of cool things.  Our hands-on approach to the wonderful world of clay helps you escape life for just a little while, and learn a new hobby.

No prior art experience is required! Learn the basics of wheel throwing and surface decoration and glazing.

The class will be held weekly for six weeks. YWCA’S Studio has all of the equipment that you need to learn and make beautiful one-of-a-kind pottery.

Class fees include 25 lbs. of clay, glazes, and firing fees and instruction.

Members: $155
Non-Members: $165

POTTERY HAND BUILDING CLASS

Make six stunning original pieces like pitchers, trays, mugs or bowls.

The class will be held weekly for four weeks.

lass fees include 25 lbs. of clay, glazes, and firing fees and instruction.  Must have three students to have class.

TWO-SESSION WORKSHOP HAND BUILDING CERAMIC CLASS

Looking for a fun and relaxing activity for you and your friends?  Consider ceramics!

No prior art experience is required! Choose your texture, design, and color to make a customized piece you will be proud to show off.

This is a 2 session workshop to create and then glaze.

Cost includes all tools, equipment, and clay, glazing and firing fees. Minimum 3 students.

Members: $45
Non-Members: $55

Do you have a Brownie Troop that wants to earn their Potter Badge? Includes all materials and pottery that is made during the session but does not include the badge.

Time: Two, 2-hour sessions

Saturday time available upon request!

Cost: $25 per girl minimum of 5 necessary

Requirements met:

Step 1 – Look in books, magazines or online for clay things for inspiration

Step 2 – Visit a potter’s studio & go to a pottery class at a community center

Step 3 – Choose between making a pinch pot or slab pot

Step 4 –Choose between making a pinch or slab sculpture, decorative tile or dish

Step 5 – Glaze pieces

  • Get to know the tools of the trade
  • Make jewelry with metal.

HOMESCHOOL STUDENTS

Homeschool pottery classes are unique, engaging and provide a variety of tools and techniques to complete fun, educational art projects.

Grades 3-8 Hand Building, 4-weeks: 

Students will learn soft slab construction, imprinting with textures/stamps, adding attachments (slip and score), creating with press molds, sculpting, surface treatments, brushing on glazes.  Includes clay, instruction, glazing and firing fees.

Minimum of 3 Students/Maximum of 8 Students

Members: $100
Non-Members: $110
