Aquatics & Wellness Schedule:
YWCA is focused on the overall quality of life for our
community. We have eighteen water (aquatics) classes, and since
we’re a Silver & Fit and SilverSneakers® Fitness Program site,
many of our classes are older adult focused. As an Arthritis
Foundation accredited pool, we keep the water in our pool at
84-86°F. We offer swim lessons for infants to adults and
everything from open swim to birthday parties, baptisms and
We have a fitness center with cardio machines and
weights along with exercise classes designed to meet the needs
of individuals, no matter their fitness level. We also have
certified personal trainers by appointment at our facility.
Arthritis Water Exercise
This program is designed specifically for those people who
may have arthritis or other physical limitations. It is also a
good course to use for physical rehabilitation after surgery
(with doctor’s permission). Instructors are trained by the
Arthritis Foundation in exercise designed to increase joint
mobility, increase muscle tone and flexibility.
This class is an aerobic workout complete with warm up,
a 20 minute aerobic routine and cool down in the water, there is
less chance of strained muscles. Also, as with the AFAP and
Water Aerobics classes, all exercises are done in the shallow
end of the pool - you don't even get your hair wet if you don't

The Teaching Kitchen is the newest program area for YWCA High Point, as
it is opening in 2017.
The teaching kitchen will be utilized by all of the
program areas within YWCA to teach healthy eating, eating on a
budget and other nutritional topics.
The teaching kitchen will additionally be available for
community organizations such as NC Cooperative Extension, to
have access to hands-on teaching and demonstration classes.
